  • 1.5 lbs sirloin steak (or chuck roast), thinly sliced into strips
  • 1.5 lbs Russet potatoes, thinly sliced or diced (about ¼-inch thick)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup (or cream of celery)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tbsp water (optional, for slurry)
  • Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Layer the ingredients:
  • In a 6-quart slow cooker, layer half of the potatoes, followed by half of the onions, half of the steak strips, and half of the cheese.
  • Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, onions, steak, and 1 cup of cheese (reserve the last cup for topping).
  1. Mix the sauce:
  • In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper.
