Cheesy Potato Gratin Cups

Ingredients

  1. Potatoes: 3-4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  2. Cheese: 1 cup grated cheddar, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  3. Cream: 1/2 cup heavy cream or whole milk
  4. Butter: 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  5. Seasoning: Salt, pepper, and nutmeg
  6. Optional: Chopped herbs (e.g., parsley, thyme), garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare potato slices: Soak in cold water for 30 minutes. Drain and pat dry.
  3. Assemble cups: Grease 6-8 ramekins or small baking dishes.
  4. Layer potatoes: Overlap potato slices in each cup.
  5. Cheesy cream mixture: Mix grated cheese, heavy cream, butter, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  6. Pour cream mixture: Over potato layers.
  7. Top with cheese: Sprinkle additional grated cheese.
  8. Bake: 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and potatoes are tender.
  9. Serve: Warm, garnished with chopped herbs if desired.

Variations

  1. Add diced ham, bacon or cooked vegetables.
  2. Use different cheese combinations (e.g., Gruyère, mozzarella).
  3. Add a sprinkle of paprika or breadcrumbs on top.
  4. Make individual servings in muffin tin.
