Lime Mousse recipe

Ingredients

  1. 8 oz (225g) heavy cream
  2. 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  3. 2 large egg whites
  4. 1/2 cup (120ml) freshly squeezed lime juice
  5. 1 tsp (5g) grated lime zest
  6. 1/4 tsp (1.25g) salt
  7. 1/2 cup (120g) mascarpone cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix sugar, egg whites, and salt until stiff peaks form.
  3. Add lime juice and zest; mix until combined.
  4. Fold whipped cream into egg mixture.
  5. If using mascarpone, gently fold into mixture.
  6. Spoon into individual serving cups or a large serving dish.
  7. Chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  8. Serve chilled, garnished with lime wedges or zest.

Variations

  1. Add a splash of liqueur (e.g., Grand Marnier, Cointreau).
  2. Mix in diced fruit (e.g., berries, mango).
  3. Use key lime juice for a more intense flavor.
  4. Top with toasted coconut flakes or chopped nuts.
